Donna Li is a partner at AllBright Law Offices, which has its headquarter in Shanghai, China.
Ms. Li received her J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University, where she graduated cum laude and was elected a member of The Justinian Society based on her excellence in legal scholarship. She was selected as a summer associate by Kaye Scholer LLP, one of the largest New York City law firms. Upon her graduation, she was hired by the same law firm as a corporate associate at its New York head office. Later she joined its Hong Kong branch office. She also worked at the New York office of Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts (now Pillsbury Winthrop LLP), another large American law firm, as a finance associate. Prior to joining AllBright Law Offices, she served as a group legal counsel at Chinadotcom Corporation, a NASDAQ listed company in Hong Kong, where she was in charge of its legal affairs in China. After joining AllBright Law Offices, she becomes the managing partner at the firm's Zhangjiang office, leading and training a group of sixteen associates.
Ms. Li has broad experience in the areas of corporate, banking and international laws with a focus on foreign investment in China. She advises multinational corporations on their investments, operations, legal compliance and governmental strategies in China. She also advises Chinese companies and entrepreneurs on their business activities in the U.S. and Hong Kong. Ms. Li represents several U.S., European, Japanese and Chinese clients of various industries in a wide range of disciplines, including banking, finance, joint venture, wholly owned foreign enterprise, merger and acquisition, regulatory and compliance matter, trademark and copyright, licensing, leasing, trade, employment, tax, real estate, and general business negotiations. Her clients include Business Development Bank, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Dynarex Corporation, Key Components, Inc., NYK Line, Sony Corporation, Sony (China) Limited, Standard Chartered Bank and Zamil Steel Buildings Co. Ltd. She also serves as long-term legal counsel to several multinational corporations including E-mice Technologies Group Limited, Firmenich Aromatics (China) Co., Ltd. and Microchip Technology Hong Kong Limited.
While working as corporate and finance associate in the New York office of the two major American law firms, Ms. Li concentrated her practice in corporate, finance and international business. Her assignments included cross-border mergers and acquisitions, commercial lending and syndicated loans, asset-based financings, structured financings, letter of credit backed commercial paper facilities, leveraged leases, public offerings and private placements.
Ms. Li is admitted in the State of New York and was a member of Asian Affairs Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York between 1997 and 2000. She is a frequent lecturer at international conferences on legal issues pertaining to Chinese laws.
Ms. Li is listed in the special Millennium Edition of Who's Who in American Law, published by Marquis Who's Who. She is also listed in the 2002/2003 Edition of The Asia Pacific Legal 500 – The Guide to Asia's Commercial Law Firms as one of the leading banking lawyers in China. |
