China and Italy Strengthen the Global Strategic Partnership by Signing a Three-year Action Plan

On July 28, 2024, China and Italy signed an Action Plan for 2024-2027 to strengthen the Global Strategic Partnership (the “Action Plan”). This Action Plan is aimed at implementing the past agreements and experiments between those two countries and strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, education, environmental protection, and food security.
The Action Plan stresses that both sides will continue to improve market access, ensure fair competition among economic operators, and jointly promote the balanced and stable development of bilateral trade. It also expresses both parties’ willingness to enhance financial cooperation within the framework of internationally agreed principles. Additionally, it proposes to accelerate the green transformation of both countries by promoting their respective financial institutions to better comply with the global sustainable finance principles. Through enhanced cooperation in economic and financial sectors, the Action Plan shows significant potential investment opportunities in some emerging industries, such as high-end manufacturing, the medical industry, cultural exchange, and tourism.
China and Italy are at the two ends of the ancient Silk Road, the time-honored friendly exchanges between the two countries have made significant contributions to the overall interactions and mutual learning between Eastern and Western civilizations. By signing the Action Plan, China and Italy have shown their determination to collaborate in optimizing and upgrading of traditional cooperation in economic and trade investment.
