China and Pakistan Strengthen Cooperation in E-commerce

On November 2, witnessed by Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif of Pakistan, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and Foreign Minister Bilawal of Pakistan signed the Memorandum of Understanding on E-commerce Cooperation (the “MOU”) between the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Commerce of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.


China and Pakistan have declared themselves to be all-weather strategic partners. The signing of this bilateral economic MOU will deepen and expand the trade cooperation between those two sides. According to the MOU, the two sides will establish an e-commerce cooperation mechanism for regular policy communication and sharing of best practices to promote trade in quality products, strengthening cooperation on logistics and e-payment and re-energizing bilateral economic and trade relations.


So far, China has set up bilateral e-commerce cooperation mechanisms with 26 countries, including Pakistan, whereby multi-leveled and wide-ranging practical cooperation has been carried out on policy communication, industrial matchmaking, capacity building and subnational cooperation.
