Revised Cybersecurity Review Measures Issued

On January 4, 2022, the Cyberspace Administration of China and the other 12 departments jointly revised and issued the Cybersecurity Review Measures (“Measures”). The Measures came into force on February 15, 2022.
The present Measures are enacted in accordance with the State Security Law , the Cybersecurity Law, the Data Security Law and other data related laws of China. The Measures aim to protect the supply chain security of critical information infrastructure, safeguard cybersecurity and data security, and maintain national security.
Compared with the previous Cybersecurity Review Measures, data processing activities carried out by online platform operators, which affects or may affect national security, shall be subject to cybersecurity review in accordance with the present Measures. The present Measures also require that, for overseas listing, an online platform operator who possesses the personal information of more than 1 million users shall apply for cybersecurity review.
