China Strengthens Economic Cooperation with Saudi Arabia in Energy Sector

On February 12, 2026, the Fifth Meeting of the Belt and Road, Major Projects and Energy Subcommittee of the Chinese-Saudi High-Level Joint Committee (the “Meeting”) was successfully held via videoconference. The Meeting reached broad consensus through in-depth discussions on development alignment, energy, and investment.
During the Meeting, both sides discussed the remarkable progress of Saudi–Chinese relations and explored new horizons to foster cooperation in priority sectors. China expressed its willingness to consolidate and expand cooperation in the energy sector, investment platforms, and emerging fields such as the digital economy, artificial intelligence, BeiDou application, and smart transportation. Saudi Arabia also recognized China as a trustworthy partner for its Vision 2030, and affirmed the fruitful results the two sides have achieved in fields such as oil and gas, renewable energy, electricity, petrochemicals, and mining.
In the long run, both sides agreed to further deepen development strategy alignment, elevate energy cooperation, advance industrial investment in a stable manner, and strengthen collaboration in emerging fields to jointly deliver more tangible outcomes in support of their respective modernization goals.
