Gu Xiao is a partner at AllBright Law Offices in Shanghai. Her practice areas include foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and finance law, labor law, and real estate.

Ms. Gu generally provides foreign-funded enterprises with legal services concerning company establishment, equity transfer, reorganization, A transactions, reinvestment, labor and personnel issues, technology transfers, licensing, and marketing. She has ample experience in foreign related real estate and once dealt with real estate projects acquisition, financing business negotiation, conceptual design, due diligence investigation, drafting of legal instruments, rental and management of real estate projects, as well as business negotiation and drafting of legal instruments involving architectural design projects. She also conducted financing, external guarantees and foreign exchange transactions for projects involving overseas investment in enterprises and real estate.

Before joining AllBright in 2009, Ms. Gu previously worked for a law firm, local court, local procuratorate and a television station in Japan.

Theory and Practice of Financial Transactions in China, co-authored by Ms. Gu and others and published by the Financial Research Institute of Japan in December 2009 was the first publication of its type in Japan to introduce China’s financial system. In April 2010, her paper entitledConfirmation of Shareholder Identity of the Client in Equity Trust Relations was published in the journal of theJapanese Institute of International Business Law (April 2010 issue). Nihon Keizai Shimbun runs an open column for Ms. Gu to introduce China’s regulations and market practices on foreign investment, trade and capital markets. She was also a guest for the legal advice column on the Bridge to Japan program broadcast by Radio and Television Shanghai.

Ms. Gu is a practicing lawyer in China. Her working languages are Mandarin and Japanese.
