Shenwen Ni is is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm’s Suzhou and Shanghai offices. Shenwen’s practice focuses on global intellectual property (IP) protection strategy and technology transfer issues, including patent procurement and enforcement, IP valuation and monetization, licensing, and technology transfer. His practice is highly focused on drug candidates and approved therapeutics and counseling clients on IP issues relating to product launch, including patent term extensions, Orange Book listings, and pre- and post-grant challenges. He also has an extensive diligence practice relating to initial and follow-on public offerings, in-licensing, out-licensing, mergers, and collaborations and opinion practice relating to financings, inventorship, and freedom to operate.
Shenwen is a recommended patent attorney by IAM Patent 1000 for many years. He has training experience at Silicon Valley office of Foley & Lardner LLP for US patent law and at Munich office of Vossius & Partners for European patent practice. He is also a columnist for professional legal platforms such as Lexology and Intellectual Property Frontier, publishing legal commentaries in both Chinese and English languages. He delivered multiple IP topic speeches and participated panel discussions at forums including the China Pharmaceutical IP Summit and the Pharmaceutical Sub-forum of the China Intellectual Property Summit.
Shenwen represented clients before the Supreme People's Court and various local IP courts. He represented clients in pharmaceutical patent ownership disputes with value at the scale of billions, as well as in chemical patent infringement compensation cases with claimed damages nearing hundreds of millions. He was interviewed and reported by the official WeChat account of the Ministry of Justice on a cross-border biopharmaceutical patent licensing dispute.
Shenwen is a member of the State Bar Association and is registered to practice before the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).
