AllBright Clients Pass European Commission Pricing Inspection

 2014-09-095303

Four Chinese solar panel companies that were advised by AllBright successfully passed the European Commission’s inspection of price fulfillment.

The European Union has been the largest market for Chinese solar panel manufacturers. The annual export of Chinese solar panels to the European Union reached 22 billion euros when the European Commission initiated its anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation against Chinese solar panels in September, 2012. Due to the substantial amount of trade volume involved, the investigations have had a significant impact on Chinese industry.

In August, 2013, thanks to many parties’ efforts, including Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, China and European Union officials settled the case through a price undertaking agreement. Chinese companies promised to sell solar panels to the European Union at a price no lower than that designated by the European side, which agreed not to impose any duties on Chinese imports.

However, the European Commission has set very strict requirements on fulfilling terms of the agreement. This inspection visit attracted much attention from China’s Ministry of Commerce and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products.

As the legal representative of China’s solar panel industry, AllBright Beijing office’s international trade team has advised the Chinese companies to reach a price undertaking agreement with the European Commission.
