ABA President Visits AllBright Shanghai Office

On June 4, 2013, American Bar Association President Laurel Bellows led a delegation to visit the AllBright Shanghai Office. Accompanying Ms. Bellows were Dr. Yu Ping, China Country Director of ABA Rule of Law Initiative, and Russell Menyhart, ‎Political Unit Chief, U.S. Consulate Shanghai. The delegation was warmly received by AllBright Managing Director Wu Mingde and AllBright Partners Steve Zhu, Theresa Qiu, Victor WangDavid Tang and James Miao.


Mr. Wu briefed the delegation of AllBright’s history, mission, and vision. He retrospect existing working relationship between China and US legal professionals and shared his views on the future partnership between the two sides and the further open-up of legal profession.


Ms. Bellows made a brief introduction of the ABA and the National Association of Women Lawyers, pointed out plans to deepen partnership between legal profession between US and China, and shared her experiences in spearheading reforms on ABA’s management of in-house counsels and qualified foreign lawyers. The two sides shared views on law firm management, business cooperation, training, US law firms’ development in China, and the comparison of US and PRC firms.


Ms. Bellows also invited AllBright lawyers to participate in ABA’s annual meetings to solidify their cooperation and exchanges with lawyers in the United States.


With more than 413,000 members, the American Bar Association is the largest voluntary professional membership organization in the world.
