On January 30, 2013, AllBright Senior Partner Ted Wu delivered a lecture to members of the Shanghai Counsels Club on legal practices regarding the Interim Provisions of the Ministry of Commerce on Equity Contributions Involving Foreign-funded Companies, a topic which Japanese companies in Shanghai showed great interest.  AllBright Senior Partner Theresa Qiu chaired the lecture.

Shanghai Counsels Club is a professional organization set up by counsel chiefs of Japanese companies based in Shanghai and Japanese lawyers in Shanghai, aiming to share experiences in legal practices among Japanese companies.

Mr. Wu shared with the audience his insights on the Interim Provisions of the Ministry of Commerce on Equity Contributions Involving Foreign-funded Companies, which took effect on September 22, 2012, with detailed case studies and in-depth, but easy-to-follow, analysis. Besides introducing the rules and related legal practices and concerns, he also offered several feasible solutions to some of the issues raised by the new regulations.

More than 30 legal professionals presented at the lecture and held discussions with AllBright lawyers. Participants included counsels from Toyota Tsuho Logistic Center, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (China) Co Ltd, Kao Corporation, Mitsui & Co. (Shanghai) Ltd, Sumitomo Corp Shanghai Ltd, Mitsubishi Corp (Shanghai) Ltd, Itochu Shanghai Ltd, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (China) Ltd, and Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (China) Ltd., as well as lawyers from Japanese firms including TMI Associates, Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, and Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu.
